CELEBRATION OF THE 77th ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNION OF THE DODECANESE WITH MOTHER GREECE
The Municipality of Leros, in collaboration with the Holy Metropolis, the Authorities, and the island’s institutions, has organized the following program:
🔹 General flag decorations and illumination of public buildings, municipal and private businesses, homes, and docked ships, lasting until sunset on March 7.
🕚 Time: 11:00 a.m.
🔹 Speeches in schools by teachers and professors on the historical significance of the great event of the Union of the Dodecanese with Mother Greece.
🔹 Wreath-laying ceremonies by student representatives:
🕘 Time: 09:45 a.m.
🔹 Gathering of delegations, schools, and other groups with their banners and flags outside the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Lakki.
🕘 Time: 09:50 a.m.
🔹 Gathering of officials and dignitaries at the Officers’ Club of the Leros Garrison and subsequent transfer to the Cathedral of St. Nicholas.
🔹 Honors will be rendered by the Municipal Philharmonic and the Unified Unit of the Leros Garrison.
🕙 Time: 10:00 a.m.
🔹 Official Doxology at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas.
🕥 Time: 10:30 a.m.
🔹 Transfer of officials and the public to P. Roussos Square, where a memorial service will be held at the bust of the fallen hero Nikolaos Roussos, a pioneer of the Union.
🔹 Wreath-laying ceremonies.
🔹 Honors will be rendered by the Municipal Philharmonic and the Unified Unit of the Leros Garrison.
