Yes, Leros has good internet reception. Most hotels, cafes, and restaurants offer free Wi-Fi for their customers, and there are also several internet cafes on the island. However, keep in mind that internet speeds and reliability can vary depending on your location and service provider.

Yes, there are ex-pat communities in Leros. Many ex-pats choose to live on the island permanently or part-time. The ex-pat community on Leros is diverse, with people from various countries, including the UK, Germany, Italy, Belgium, and more. Leros is very friendly and welcoming to everybody. 

The local people don’t drink water from the tap. The water from the tap is suitable for any usage, but it’s not recommended for drinking as its quality gradually drops during the summer.

There are many desalinated water points in Leros where you can refill drinking water for free, and you can also buy mineral water in any grocery store on the island. 

The Hellenic Post (ELTA) has a post office on Leros Island located at Agia Marina. You can go there and inquire about their shipping services and prices. They offer both domestic and international shipping options.

Yes, Leros is a port of entry for sailing yachts in Greece during the summertime. There is a port police office in the main harbor of Lakki, where you can check in and out of the country.

Yes. There are two public docks. In Lakki and Agia Marina.

Both places offer water/electricity pillars. You can use a prepaid card which can be purchased at a local kiosk. The fee is reasonable per boat dimension and charged only during the sailing Season.

You can find many mooring options in Leros. 

In Lakki Bay, you can find Leros Marina ‘Evros’ on the northeast side of the Bay. This Marina offers hundreds of places in water and on the dry dock. You can also find Lakki Marina (operated by Moore & Dock Boatyard) on the northwest side of the bay with various mooring options.

There are more options. Sailors can moor their boats on the town dock of Lakki. Here, you have to use your own anchor. 

In Partheni Bay, on the north of the island, you can find two more boatyards called ‘Artemis‘ and ‘Dock & Moore.’ These two dry marinas on the island offer everything you need, from fuel and water to electricity and repair services. Plus, they’ve got top-notch security, so your vessel’s in good hands.

There are two main ferry companies servicing Leros: Blue Star Ferries and Dodekanisos Seaways. Blue Star Ferries is a larger people carrier that provides connections between Leros, Piraeus, and other islands. It has the capability to carry a large number of cars and vehicles of all sizes. The Dodekanisos Seaways operates a smaller and faster catamaran, connecting Leros with all the other Dodecanese Islands.

Yes, there is a single bus line that crosses the island from South to North and back, covering most of the island. It’s an affordable way to get around. You can find the timetable here. The bus schedule can also be found at the bus station in Lakki town, which is the main town and port of the island. It’s important to note that the bus schedule may change depending on the season, and buses may not always run on time. Therefore, it’s a good idea to plan ahead and allow some extra time for travel. The cost of a bus ride is between 1.5 and 2 Euros.

You can hail a taxi in Leros by waving one down on the street or by contacting a local taxi company. The island has two taxi companies, as well as a few private taxi drivers. Their phone numbers can be easily found in our website. However, it’s important to keep in mind that taxis may not always be readily available, especially during busy tourist seasons or when ferries or flights arrive on the island. To ensure convenience, it is recommended to plan ahead and pre-book a taxi if possible. For instance, a typical taxi ride to the airport, located in the upper North of Leros, would cost approximately 10-25 Euros.

Roundabouts have special “Lerian” traffic rules that differ from the commonly known ones. Always give way to traffic coming from the right (even if you are already inside the circle). There are 2 roundabouts in Lakki, one near the taxi station and the other near the cinema. 

Other traffic regulations in Leros are generally similar to those in the rest of Greece:

• The speed limit on the island is 30 km/h in built-up areas and 50 km/h on the main roads outside of built-up areas.
• It is mandatory for drivers and front-seat passengers to wear seat belts at all times.
• Using mobile phones while driving is prohibited unless you have a hands-free kit.
• It is illegal to drive under the influence of alcohol. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.05%.
