This year, we commemorate the 83rd anniversary of the sinking of the legendary destroyer “Queen Olga” in the port of Lakki, Leros (26 September 1943), one of the most glorious and at the same time tragic
pages of the modern history of our island. As part of the event, which is open to the public, historical archival documentaries from state television will be shown ERT “Leros. The fortress of the Aegean” (Year of production: 1986) and “A Forgotten Legend: The Story of the Survivors of the “Olga” (Year production: 1995), total duration one hour.

At the same time, there will be a small exhibition space with objects referring to or connected with the glorious destroyer, from the collection of the “Deposito Di Guerra – Ioannis Paraponiaris” museum.
The event will conclude with a reading of the recording of in memory of a shipwreck survivor, by Sevasti Diakou.
