The Route

The hike begins at the Marina in Lakkí, passing by a restaurant and a sailing school at the 3rd Koulouki. The path follows the coastline towards Merikia, offering breathtaking views. As you enter Merikia, you will notice Italian military buildings—old barracks from World War II.

At the end of the bay, the trail ascends, following the curves of the rugged coastline. Along the way, you’ll find the small chapel of Agios Spyridonas, hidden in a little gorge beneath the road.

Follow the signs to Katsouní, leading through a small pine grove atop a narrow strip of land. From there, a trail takes you to abandoned military buildings and round gun bases, offering a unique panoramic view of Lakkí Bay and the Marina.

A little further, you’ll reach the lighthouse, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the impressive entrance to Lakkí Bay and the hills of neighboring Kalymnos.

A Hidden Beach

Just after the chapel of Agios Spyridonas, follow the signs to Kókkina, leading you to a secluded and enchanting bay. Here, you can take a dip in the crystal-clear waters and, if you’re feeling adventurous, swim toward the small strip of land on the left, where you’ll discover an underwater cave you can explore by swimming.

At Katsouní, you’ll also have the chance to admire the lighthouse and the small chapel of Agios Efstathios (the Patron Saint of Hunters) on your right.

Relax and Enjoy

After your hike, return to Lakkí and enjoy a refreshing coffee or a meal at one of the beautiful seaside cafés and tavernas, watching the sailboats moored in the marina.

A Seabed Full of History

Lakkí Bay is rich in naval history, as it serves as the final resting place of many shipwrecks, from antiquity to World War II. “On the seabed lie, among other wrecks, parts of the Greek Destroyer Vasilissa Olga.”

Immerse yourself in the magic of Leros, walk through the paths of history, and experience an unforgettable adventure in nature!
