You’ve found the perfect taverna — the sea is just steps away, and the smell of grilled food fills the air. But then comes the menu, full of unfamiliar Greek words, and a friendly waiter asking, “Ti tha paráte?” (What would you like?). That’s where this session comes in. We’ll give you the tools to feel confident reading the menu, asking what’s fresh, chatting with the staff, and ordering exactly what you want — all in Greek, and all with ease.

“Taverna Talk” is part of our series of short, friendly Greek sessions made for travelers who want more than just a holiday — they want connection. Each session is focused on one real-life moment, with language you’ll actually use. You can join just one, a few, or all four — it’s completely up to you.

This session is all about the taverna experience — from reading the menu to asking for recommendations, and saying “cheers” like you mean it. Whether you’re veggie, a seafood lover, or just in it for the desserts, this session will help you navigate the Greek dining scene like a pro.

What you’ll learn:

• How to read and understand a Greek menu
• Useful phrases for ordering food and drinks
• How to ask for the bill, make a toast, or compliment the cook
• Cultural tips on dining etiquette and local food habits

It’s relaxed, practical, and deliciously useful. And to help you remember what you’ve learned, you’ll take home a handy cheat sheet with key words and phrases to keep at your side the next time you’re eyeing that moussaka.
