Botanical & Herb Farm Tour- CASERMA
Explore the thriving herbs of Leros
Enjoy a morning on the sun-drenched slopes of Koulouki in Leros, where the air smells of wild thyme from the Botanical Farm of Leros.
Hosted by the Caserma Botanical Farm, this morning experience invites you to step onto a very special, inclusive farm that feels a world away from the usual tourist stops. Over two relaxed hours, you’ll wander through rows of native Leros herbs and get a fascinating, hands-on look into the secret life of bees, guided by local beekeepers who genuinely love what they do. With the tour, you get to experience the tasting of what you see, taking in the aromas of what you see through another sense.
During your tour, you will notice a deeper meaning to its location, the farm itself is built around old Italian military barracks, looking out over landmarks like the former aeronautical base and the Royal Technical Schools. As you take in the views, your hosts will share the powerful history of these buildings, which have served as a backdrop for political exiles, mental health patients, and migrants over the decades. It’s a history of resilience that makes the peace of the farm today feel even more meaningful.
It’s a morning designed to help you slow down, connect with the land, and understand the real Leros; combining nature, raw history, and experiencing more of what the Island has to offer.
