Uncover a Hidden Paradise in Leros for Sailors and Yacht Owners
Hey there, sailor! Ever heard of Leros? It’s this lovely little Greek island in the southeastern Aegean Sea, part of the Dodecanese group. Sure, it’s not as famous as Santorini or Mykonos, but trust us, Leros is a paradise for sailors and yacht owners like yourself. With its rich history, gorgeous landscapes, and authentic Greek vibes, you’re in for a treat. Let’s dive into why Leros should be on your sailing bucket list!
Protected Natural Harbors
Leros has many natural harbors and bays, giving you plenty of safe spots to drop anchor. The island’s main harbor, Lakki, is one of the Mediterranean’s finest natural bays. It’s got loads of room for boats and yachts of all sizes. Plus, there are other appealing harbors like Alinda, Agia Marina, Partheni, and Xirokampos, and last but not least, the beautiful anchorage and mooring field off the fishing harbor of Panteli. You’ll have no problem finding just the right place to dock or anchor while exploring the island.
Smooth Sailing
The Aegean Sea can get pretty windy, especially with the Meltemi blowing through in the summer. But Leros has your back! Thanks to its location and smaller surrounding islands, you’ll find calmer waters to sail in. So you can enjoy the island’s beauty without worrying about rough conditions.
