In the summer of 2006, the branch of the worldwide non-governmental organization “Women Without Borders” was founded on the Greek island of Leros. Our board consists of nine members serving a three-year term, and we currently have 150 active members who support and participate in our charitable work.
Our primary focus is philanthropy, and we strive to alleviate human suffering, which we believe is the ultimate act of culture. We support and assist 120 families with food, especially during the holiday season (Christmas and Easter), and provide financial aid to students whose families are struggling financially.
We organize educational and entertaining events and conferences. Our club’s income comes primarily from our members’ activities, such as dance events, lotteries, and handmade crafts that we sell at various markets and events on the island.
Our club is particularly sensitive to single-parent families, as well as our fellow human beings with health problems. We cover the costs of medical examinations and surgical procedures.
Everyone on the island, as well as our sponsors who recognize and trust our work, is welcome to join us. Our small family’s door is always open to anyone who needs our help.
